Mother Of Tamir Rice Speaks Out
Tamir Rice's mother, Samaria Rice, has spoken out, telling #TeamBeautiful in an exclusive interview that ''I'm actually living in a nightmare and my life has been flipped upside down. I never asked for none of this, but I am going to get justice for my son and that is what I'm going to do''. She said.
''I am still waiting for someone to come knock on my door and what happened to my 12-year old son. Nobody has come to my door''. She admitted in sadness.
For those of you not familiar with the Tamir Rice story, here goes.
He was shot and killed by police officer Timothy Loehmann, a 26 year old police rookie, after a 911 police dispatch reported that a 'young black male' was scaring people with a gun in the city park, in Cleveland. Officer Loehmann and his partner, Frank Garmback responded to the call. He fired two shots within two seconds of arriving on the scene, hitting Rice in the torso, which led him to bleed out.
They preceded to arrest and handcuff his 14 year old sister who was trying to get to her dying brother. The gun, turned out to be a plastic gun pellet. Had Loehmann stopped to check, would not have resulted in the death of a young life.
What the dispatch forgot to state was the 'young black male' is actually a 12 year old child. This incident was caught on the security tapes in the park. It has since been uploaded on the internet for anyone that wants to view it.
The case of Tamir Rice is just like those of Eric Garner, Micheal Brown, Amadou Diallo, Oscar Grant, and the list goes on... Each of these young men, had mothers who had to bury them way too soon- because the police had trigger-happy fingers.
This kind of stuff cannot be made up.
My prayers are with Tamir Rice's family, especially his mother, who must be going through a very rough time.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that, officer Loehmann, in his previous job as a police officer in Independence, Ohio, was deemed as an emotionally unstable recruit and unfit for duty.
The life of an innocent young boy playing with a toy gun, taken away in the twinkle of an eye. #blacklivesmatter
