GMB Winner, Baci To Represent Ghana At Top Model Of The World Pagent In China

The 2014 winner of the Ghana Most Beautiful pageant, Bentie Abigail Baciara, has called for the support of Ghanaians as she represents the country at the 22nd edition of the Top Model of the World Pageant, in Qingdao, China.
Baci who leaves Ghana on Wednesday, August 19 told Showbiz she was going to represent Ghana and showcase to the rest of the world what the country has to offer.
She added that she was well prepared in terms of grooming, thanks to her time spent with at the Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant and as a result she was hopeful of replicating her success by annexing the Top Model of the World pageant crown.
“At the Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, I lived under the same roof with nine ladies for three months but this would only be for three weeks so I doubt if it would be difficult.
“ I would be meeting other ladies from all across the world and I am hoping the experience I gained would be enough to help me win the crown. “ Also, I believe my unique grasp of the Ghanaian culture, will set me apart from the other contestants who would be at the event.
“It’s not just about beauty or height but also the inner beauty within which lies the reflection of the African woman in me. I know my culture and I am hoping to teach the rest of the world a lot more about Ghana and possibly change perceptions about her.
“ Thus, I am not at the pageant to represent just myself but also to promote the image of Ghana worldwide and I ask for the support and prayers of Ghanaians to aid me in the competition.
“I need everyone to support me in prayers and although the winners are not exclusively decided via voting, there might come a time where we would need votes online and I would like to ask for the support of Ghanaians during that period”, she added.
According to Baci, she hopes to establish potential links with prospective sponsors who might come on board to aid with some developmental projects she has been undertaking in some deprived areas across the country.
Baci, recently launched her foundation christened the Malol-Lol Ghana Foundation, which aims at promoting primary education in some deprived communities across the country.
She revealed that since the launch of the foundation, she has donated 10,000 customised exercise books to brilliant but needy students in five districts in the Upper West Region as well as provided solar panels to some communities in need of electricity.

Will Smith And Kanye West Laugh At Meek Mill

Two weeks ago, when Meek Mill decided to go on a Twitter rant and accused Drake of having a ghostwriter, which went on to spark a rap beef between the 'Dream Chaser' and the '6 god', he probably thought that was the end when the whole internet declared Drake the winner, when his feeble attempt at a response to Drake's "Back to back" and 'charged up' was met with the most hilarious memes of all time.

Well, Drake didn't think the beef was well cooked to be served, so he stirred the pot once more over the weekend during a concert in Toronto. He was seen wearing a 'Free Meek Mill' T-shirt and during his performance, rolled a Power Point Presentation of the memes that were made during Meek's clowning on Twitter. I cannot!!!

He also dropped his latest diss track '3-peat'at the concert. This man is on a roll to teach Meek not to come for him or anyone for that matter. Apparently, the Meek do not inherit the crown! lol

Later backstage, he was captured having a laugh at Meek Mill's expense with Will Smith, and Kanye West. WELP!

"I Don't Usually Respond To Foolishness..." Will Smith Speaks On Divorce Rumors

Social media today, Facebook, especially was swirling with rumours of an impending end to the 17 year old marriage of Will and Jada Smith.

By now, we know not to take such rumours seriously, or rather some of us do, as this story has been around for a while now. Just that, this time around, it kept getting bigger and bigger, which led many to actually start questioning the authenticity of the Smiths love.

Well, apparently, Will got wind of the shenanigans going on and decided to squash it once and for all as he took to his Facebook page to release a statement:

His Queen took to her Twitter to stand by her King as she Tweet:

"My king has spoken."

On Saturday, August 1, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22, was put to rest with the sound of her mother in her ear-Whitney's version of 'Jesus Loves Me'- accompanied her.

Tyler Perry was present, as were members of both the Brown and Houston families. They all spoke at the funeral but according to TMZ , Bobbi Brown was not listed as a speaker but rather left a message that said "I also will always love you."

More Sad News; Bobby Brown's Wife Rushed To The Hospital After Bobbi Kristina Funeral

When it rains, it pours!

More worries for Bobby Brown as his wife, Alicia Etheredge, was rushed to the hospital after the funeral rites of late daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22 at Alpharetta, Georgia yesterday. Bobbi Kristina, died last Sunday, and will be buried officially on Monday morning in New Jersey, next to her mother, Whitney Houston.

Bobby Brown's wife, Alicia Etheredge, was rushed to the hospital after she suffered a seizure in the hotel room that she shared with her husband,Yahoo News reports. It is also reported that the seizure was caused by diabetes.

Gratefully, Alicia has made a full recovery and it is said that she will be there at the burial ceremony in New Jersey. Bobby and Alicia did welcome a baby girl, Bohdi, in July, just days after Bobbi Kristina passed. It must have brought some very much need joy and happiness in their lives.

I hope that Bobby Brown and the Brown family as well as the Houston family can find peace and comfort in these trying times and beyond.

May Bobbi find peace too.

Meek Mill Drops Drake 'Diss' Track ''Wanna Know''

Last week, Meek  Mills got 'Twitter fingers' when he decided to go on a rant and disrespect Drake, and start what I call the 'Drills rap war".

Apparently, Drake didn't Tweet and promote his album 'Dreams Worth More Than Money' and so, Meek felt slighted which led him to accusing Drake of not writing his own rap lyrics,ergo, Drake has a ghostwriter.

Drake didn't take kindly to such disrespect cause he clapped back with a response in the form of 'Charged up', which Meek thought was soft cos he Tweeted 'Baby soft lotion' and 'I knew he wrote those rhymes'. Lol!

Drake wasn't done apparently, because he came back harder than 'Charged up' with another diss track 'Back to back' and the internet erupted! He got Meek back for not responding to his first diss track but also riding on the glory of his girlfriend, rapper Nicki Minaj saying 
  “Trigger fingers turned to Twitter fingers, Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?/ I know that you gotta be a thug for her/ This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more /Boss chicks be wifin' these niggars” Well, goddamn!

Meek responded with his own diss track, after a week and a half, and well, the internet is not forgiving him for that cause EVERYBODY thinks it's TRASH. To be fair, Meek had over a week to prepare and for him to release this! Nah! I'm not impressed! I might just be biased cause I am a massive Drake fan, but hey, he really could have done better!

And it doesn't help him much that Drake just donated some money to Meek's former high school to enable them build a better recording studio. Lord, the shade!

Radio Presenter Jailed For Scam

Signs of the end times, I must say!

A popular radio presenter in the Tamale metropolis was on Thursday, sentenced by a Tamale Circuit Court to 4 years imprisonment for duping a German man to the tune of $17,000.
The accused, Nuhu Abu Hassan aka Dj Maestro, met the victim, Hans Dieter Heirich, a member of the of the Federal Council of Germany on the internet and struck up a conversation and friend with him.
Hierich who told the accused of his intention to invest in the Northern sector sent him an amount of $17,000 to help him in acquiring a piece of land and putting up a house. This, the accused didn't do, but rather fed Hierich with false information and fake documents.
 Steven Zoure, a correspondent of the newspaper, Daily Guide, reported the issue as follows:
The accused and his victim met through the internet nine months ago and struck an acquaintance.
The German legislator later expressed interest in owning a house in Tamale and asked if his new-found friend could be of assistance, and the radio presenter obliged.
The German MP then asked Nuhu Abu Hassan to find out the quotations for him to wire the money for the purpose of building a befitting house for him, but the suspect took fake drawings and emailed to him.
The cash was subsequently sent and after some months, he sent the German MP pictures of a house that rather belonged to his neighbours.
Unknown to him, the German paid a surprise visit to Ghana and dashed to the North only to realise that he had been duped, since there was no house as claimed by the radio presenter.
A complaint was therefore lodged with the police leading to the presenter’s arrest.
In his caution statement, he admitted the offence but claimed his victim was a gay partner and the money was meant as compensation for their gay activities.
He tendered some nude pictures of himself to back his claim, disclosing that part of the money was used in purchasing a Nissan Almera for GH¢16,000 and pleaded with the police to give him time to refund the money.
He also admitted sending the MP the fake building plans and drawings all in a bid to defraud the German who had left the country and given a power of attorney to one Moses Azaare to ensure the prosecution of the case.

It's people like these that give the rest of us a bad reputation. Justice!

Dancehall Artiste, Stonebwoy Loses Mother

Sad news hitting the entertainment industry today as Madam Catherine A. Satekla, the mother of dancehall artiste, Stonebowy is said to have passed away Wednesday night at the 37 Military Hospital.
The BET 2015 award winner for Best African Act was in a flight from The United States Of America to Ghana and scheduled to perform some shows when his mum passed fifteen minutes before his flight touched the ground.
His mother passed after she was rushed to the hospital on Sunday. The cause of death is not disclosed.
Stonebowy, who earlier this year, on Mother's day made a song for his mother took to his Instagram to mourn his mum. He wrote "MAMA!!!, Only Jah Knows"

Female Musicians Are Just Being Lazy- Wiyaala

Afro-pop musician Noella Wiyaala has stated that female musicians are not frontline artistes because they are lazy.

She says female artistes in Ghana have been consistently sidelined because they have refused to be strong and daring making the industry a male dominated one.

Wiyaala however thinks the Ghanaian music industry is not a male dominated one, explaining that both the men and women are given the same opportunities therefore the ladies must stop complaining.

The singer- songwriter believes most ladies rely on facial beauty and their body with the assumption that it will sell them, adding that it is high time they stopped being comfortable being at the back.

Assassination Of President Thwarted! Suspect Jailed 10 Years!

On 28 July,Tuesday, an Accra court sentenced one Charles Antwi to ten years imprisonment for confessing to carrying an illegal weapon into the church in which the President, Mr John Mahama and his family worship. According to the suspect, he entered the church with said weapon in order to ''kill the President'', since he despised the state of the economy and because he felt that he should be President instead.

In a statement released by the Communications Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, Charles Antwi, 36, was arrested after his 'fidgety and suspicious behaviour' caught the eye of the security personnel in the church, who preceded to escort him outside where he was searched and the 'weapon found' on him.

He told the court presided by Justice Francis Obiri that it was his birthright to become President. He said he was destined to be "sworn in as President when President John Atta Mills died".

He further stressed that he 'trying to kill the President was a way of fighting for the nation'.

In an interview on the Citi  Breakfast Show, Wednesday, Madam Afia Agyapongmaa asked pardon for her son stating that ''he was not mentally stable, not one bit. I want to appeal to the public to help me ask the President for a pardon and treat his mental problem because I don’t have much''

She went on to state that ''when I heard that my son had been arrested, I was sad and very worried.''

According to sources, Trai Byers popped the question at the 31st birthday celebrations of his leading lady. Talk about an unforgettable birthday party!

Bobbi Kristina Passes On... Daughter of Whitney Houston And Bobby Brown Dies

Six months ago on January 31, Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late singer, Whitney Houston was rushed to North Fulton Hospital after she was found unresponsive in her home in Georgia by her boyfriend, Nick Gordon.

On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina, 22, passed away at the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, GA, surrounded by her loved ones after months of being in a medically-induced coma. Her condition at that point was said to be 'significantly diminished'. Cissy Houston, grandmother to Bobbi told press that her grand-daughter had 'global and irreversible brain damage'. Bobbi Kristina was said to only breathe with the help of a ventilator.
In a press statement that was released in June, the family said they were moving her from the hospital to hospice care.

"Despite the great medical care at the numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown's condition has continued to deteriorate. As of today, she has been moved to hospice care. We thank everyone for their support and prayers. She is in God's hands now".

Allegedly. Bobbi Kristina was said to have been following the drug-related footsteps of her parents; Bobby and Whitney. But a source close to the 22 year old told PEOPLE Magazine that she denied any usage of drugs saying "I know how my mother died, and I've learned from her mistakes'. "She seemed very adamant" the source claimed.

 "She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months" the Houston and Brown families said in a statement released shortly after her death.

Bobbi Kristina inherited 10% of her late mother, Whitney Houston's estate when she turned 21 and was set to receive 15% and the remaining when she reached 25 and 30 respectively.

But that was not to be. My condolence to the Houston and Brown families.

Tamale Connect Presents Soccer Fiesta '15

Soccer fiesta returns with a big bang! It is the third edition of the series and as usual, proudly brought to you by TLE Connect at Bagabaga School Of Education(BATCO) at 7am on 25th July.

As it was with the previous fiestas, this year’s is all about creating avenues for the youth to ease off stress from work and network with colleagues from all walks of life…and people with no social life, like me! The organizers of the event are committed to supporting the underprivileged in society through sports and recreation.

What to expect in this year’s edition?

This year is a whole different level as the organizers have up’d the ante. There will be a curtain raiser match between the ladies of ThinkAfrik and N.E.S.I (Northern Education Support Initiative). This year has eight teams; Zola Fc, The Jackson Team, Mega4ce, Highlife Nation, Kritz Fc, Brotherhood Fc, Nyebli Tactics, and Lagkara Squad.

Team Profiles:

THINKAFRIK LADIES:

Captained by HIKIMA and coached by NAT BONGO, the ladies of ThinkAfrik are the best at attacking, striking and defence that the metropolis has ever seen. They have shown so much commitment to putting out their very best against the other team, especially in way they train. Their official colours are White with the ThinkAfrik insignia on their jerseys. Their motto is Converting Passion to Profits. #Jointhedream.

NESI LADIES:

Founded and led by Perfectual Linnan, the Northern Education Support Initiative is geared towards improving on the quality of education in the three Northern Regions of Ghana. They seek to help uplift the face of education in these regions by assisting the schools and pupils with basic educational materials and more importantly, motivational and counseling sessions.

ZOLA HOOD FC:

Headed by Hammer and captained by Wadusty DeKing, Zola Hood FC is a football club which was established in the year 2012. The club consists of two neighbourhoods in the metropolis (Zogbeli and Lamakara) and it is well known for its unbeaten records in all the games they’ve participated in, with eight trophies to their name. Their traditional colours are Blue and Pink (Home) and Red and White (Away). It is a team that attracts people whenever they are on the field. Unity is their hallmark.

NYEBLI TACTICS:

Coached by Ibn Arimi and captained by Nana Kyei, this Tamale based football club has an unbeaten record in the Soccer Fiesta football games since its inception. It was founded in 2014 by an anonymous business mogul from Dubai…Lol! Their traditional colours are Red and White (Home) and Black (Away).

MEGA4CE FC:

Coached by Uncle Santa and captained by Obed (Virgin OB), and Kel, this Tamale based event organising house comes along with multi –talented players across the globe. Strong in all areas; from technical to defence to attack to striking, this team comes with their own set of cheerleaders. Team colours include Red, Black, Lemon, Green, and Yellow. Their motto is the Force behind Conceptually Creative and Innovative Events.

LAGKARA FC (LGK):

Led by Coach Prynz Rio, and captained by Muzamil ‘El Chapo’ Paedae, LAGKARA FC is made up of very ambitious young men with a passion for the beautiful game of football. It was founded in 2012. Unbeaten in competitive soccer fiesta games, as it is for every team on this list…I wonder who usually takes the last position then…lol. Traditional colours are Red and White but they will be using a new kit at this year’s Soccer Fiesta. The club is currently on pre-season tour in Spain.

THE JACKSON TEAM:

This team claims that they will be walking away with this year’s Soccer Fiesta cup, more grease to their elbows.

KRITZ FC:

Kritz Fc is one team that looks like they will be a pain in the butt for the other teams. They move very slowly but are a deadly bunch when it comes to attack and defensive play. Fortunately, they do not always ‘park the bus’.

BROTHERHOOD FC:

Just like the name says, this group of young and talented footballers may come off like scattered sheep-no offence- but they have this unbelievable telepathic bond they play that their opponents would not know what hit them until it’s over.

HIGHLIFE NATION:

You may think by their name that they are very old people…nah. They are very boisterous; they run like a cheetah and when they are on the ball, mehn, you can only sit back and drool.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

For the non-soccer fans, there are other gams for you to play or watch. There will be Table Tennis, Scrabble, Owar3, Draught, FIFA’15, and many others to catch your fancy. Also, Marie Stopes, one of the sponsors of the fiesta, will be coming along with products to distribute to the teams and the audience.

There will be non-monetary donations (books, pens, uniforms, footballs, etc.) taken from the teams and the audience which will be presented to a charity after the show is done. So the teams are required to put together something, and the audience are asked to donate as well.

PUBLICITY STUNT OR NAH?...XTREME GH ‘ACQUIRES’ SHRINE

Jesus take the wheel, please!

Rumors flying around the Ghanaian interwebs and gossip sites are that young Ghanaian blogger and up and coming musician, Xtreme GH who also blogs for hypegh.com has allegedly acquired a shrine at Zoggu, a small town in the Northern Region.

Though his motive regarding is not clearly known, one is likely to link it to a spiritual calling or maybe he is just trying to pull a stunt, since he has new music coming out soon.

In the past few months, many have pointed accusing fingers at other showbiz personalities, including Dark Suburb, Guru, Asamoah Gyan and even the missing and yet-to-be found Castro.

If this is a publicity stunt, is it really worth it? Or maybe he really wants to go back to what his ancestors were worshiping.

Sarkodie In Collaboration With Ace Hood For New Music

Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Sarkodie is in Miami wrapping up a video shoot for a song he is collaborating with American hip hop artiste, Ace Hood. Enewsgh.com published pictures from the shoot. The video shoot was directed by South African video director, Justin Campos of Gorilla Films . I believe most Ghanians have been waiting for this sort of collaboration between local and international acts for quite some time now, and it seems to be happening. This surely will boost Sark's career and also make his fans very happy, and also put his doubters to shame. The song is set to be released on the Tigo/Deezer platform in a couple of days.

Kelly Rowland Helps Raise $800K For The Homeless

This past Mothers Day weekend, singer, Kelly Rowland gave a special performance for the homeless in Melbourne, Australia to help raise money for the Magpie Nesting Housing Project.

Magpie Nest is a charity based organization devoted to placing all the necessary supports around a resident to increase the possibility of them addressing their issues and moving forward with their lives. They have teamed up with other organizations such as The Salvation Army.

Kelly said she was just happy to be able to support;“I was delighted to support a program that provides housing for the people of Melbourne without homes,”.

Her performance brought in about $800,000 for homeless families.

What a way to give back to people in need, no?
